Earlier this year, Russia was banned from international competition due the country's full scale military aggression against Ukraine.

Since then, Russian gymnasts have been taking part in a number of domestic competitions.

At the time of this year's World championships, which was held between October 29 and November 6 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, Russia took part at the Belarus Open championship.

Belarus has also been banned from international competitions, due to its support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Elena Gerasimova, who went to the Tokyo Olympic Games as an individual gymnast, took part at the Belarus Open competition.

The Russian gymnast competed a beam routine that could have won her the gold medal in Liverpool, had she competed there.

Gerasimova competes two difficult acrobatic combinations, a front handspring (B) to front tuck (D) and a side aerial (D) to layout step out (C). Each combination is worth 0.2 connection bonus.

She does a switch leap (C) to sheep jump (C), worth 0.1 connection bonus, to back handspring (B). The acro-dance series is worth 0.1 bonus, but she slightly hesitated between the sheep jump and the back handspring, hence might not receive the series bonus.

She does a front aerial (D) to a split jump (B), worth 0.1 connection bonus. She was supposed to connect the split jump to the Onodi (D), in order to receive 0.1 connection bonus and 0.1 series bonus.

She ends her routine with a double twisting layout (C).

The 18 year old gymnast was the only Russian gymnast to not win a medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
