Flavia Saraiva is set to undergo a surgery for an injury she sustained at the last World championship, which was held between Oct 29 and Nov 6 in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
The Brazilian gymnast was seen limping after she landed her vault during the competition's qualifications.
In the team final, she only competed on the uneven bars, while she withdrew from the all around and floor finals which she qualified to in tenth and first place respectively.
Saraiva's diagnosis is medial ligament and tibial tendon damage.
However, the surgery will not cause changes to the athlete's 2023 competitions plans.
This is the second surgery on her right ankle, the first was in August 2021.
The 23 year year old gymnast competed at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games, where she qualified to the balance beam finals.
