Due to the international ban on Russian sports federations, Russian gymnast Angelina Melnikova was not able to defend her World all around title at the 2022 World championships, which is currently being held in Liverpool.
Melnikova, who took a short break after the Swiss Cup last December, previously expressed her intentions of making her international comeback debut in Liverpool.
She has been only taking part in domestic competition ever since she returned from her break.
When asked on Instagram if she is watching the current World championships, the 22 year old gymnast responded "I didn't watch it while sitting at the TV. But I'm watching the girls here. I see what a beautiful arena it is and I miss the competitions badly."
"We're rolling over with the girls a few messages, writing them wishes of good luck and congratulations," she continued in accordance to Instagram translation.
At last year's Worlds, Melnikova won silver on floor exercise and bronze on vault in addition to her all-around gold medal.
Earlier this month, the Russian athlete hinted on accepting to compete under a neutral flag in response to IOC president Thomas Bach's proposal.
