Russian gymnast Maria Minaeva might be suffering from an Achilles tear.

Minaeva injured herself while dismounting the balance beam during the all around final at the 2022 Spartakiad Games.

The 17 year old gymnast tried to save herself from falling on her dismount, which she landed too low, but ended up injuring herself.

Visibly in pain, she saluted the judges then withdrew from the competition.

Russia's head coach Valentina Rodioneka said that the young athlete will most likely be out of training for three months in order to heal.

The competition ended with Tokyo Olympic champions sweeping the podium.

Viktoria Listunova won the gold medal, while the silver and bronze went to Angelina Melnikova and Vladislava Urazova respectively.
