The 33 year old gymnast posted on Instagram according to Google Translate:
"IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL IT'S OVER ‼️ The last chapter of my active gymnastics career is now being written 📖! You should stop when it's most beautiful 🤩! So I made a decision for myself: after the European Championships in Munich I will end my gymnastics career! I owe a lot to competitive sport and have experienced an incredible amount in my life through competitive sport. Now it's time to break new ground and to let new things into my life that I haven't had time for before. I'm really looking forward to this new but also unfamiliar section and at the same time I'm proud that I can bid farewell in front of my home crowd in Munich with what I hope will be a great competition ☺️😌! For me, sport has always been like my own living room, which I know very well. For me, gymnastics is the most beautiful sport in the world! But where one door closes, a new one opens 🚪! I'm now brave and ready to explore the world outside of the gym 🤗. It is not over till it's over. Only after my last exercise in Munich will I put my leotard back in the closet 😉! And then I have enough time to review everything! I'm looking forward to the next week @munich2022 with full anticipation and I'm happy to be able to tackle this time with the German team 🤩🥰! I hope that I will see as many of you as possible in Munich and I am really looking forward to your support on site or from wherever on this earth 🌍! Your Kimi 🫶🏼
