Valentina Rodionenko, the head coach of the Russian national team, claimed that the reason why there are no foreign gymnasts - except from Belarus- competing at the current Russian Cup, is that they were sent warnings over their participation at the competition.

"They were all sent warnings that if they come to us, they will be disqualified. Therefore, only Belarus is here. They, like us, are under sanctions," Rodionenko told Match.Tv.

Russian and Belarussian gymnasts have been banned from participating in international competitions since last March due to Russia's full scale military aggression on Ukraine.

The Russian head coach previously announced the participation of China, Turkey, Israel, Kazakhstan, Egypt and Armenia in the country's cup.

The Russian Cup is currently being held in Kaluga, Russia. The competition will end on July 10th.
