British gymnast Jessica Gadirova announced on Instagram that she won't be trying for the Commonwealth Games which will take place between Jul 28 and Aug 8 in Birmingham as she will be focusing instead on the upcoming European and World championships.

"Hello Everyone - quick update on my plans for the big year ahead. After a really busy and successful start to 2022, me and my support team have been looking at how to manage the workload with potentially three major championships still to come," Jessica wrote.

"I’ve decided the focus will be to try and make the GB team for the European Championships and World Championships, therefore i have not put myself up for selection for the Commonwealth Games," she continued.

"My aim is to have a long and successful gymnastics career so it's important to plan ahead and make sure I’m making the right decisions specifically for what I want to achieve this year and to keep myself fit and healthy in the process leading up to 2024."

"Good luck to all my team mates hoping to make the team and hopefully I'll still be in Birmingham to cheer on my teammates from each Home Nations.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿"
