France's Lorette Charpy slammed her heel really hard onto the low bar during the 2020 American cup through no fault of her own but rather an equipment malfunction.

The equipment malfunction caused the bars to move closer together while Lorette was swinging the high bar from a direction facing downwards leading to her heels slamming the low bar.

The French gymnast stopped her routine to check her heels. Event officials rushed to the uneven bars to fix the malfunction.

She was allowed to redo her routine. She seemed to have toned down her routine as she dismounted the apparatus with an easy double back tuck instead of her double back layout.

Charpy, who turned senior in 2017, is best known for winning the silver medal with her team at the 2018 European championships and the bronze medal on balance beam at the 2019 European championships.

She is also the 2019 all around European Games silver medalist.

Last year, the French athlete suffered a knee injury which ended her Tokyo Olympic bid.

She made her return to competition at the 2022 Baku World Cup where she qualified to three event finals. She won gold on the uneven bars and silver on the balance beam. She also placed fourth on floor exercise.
