Italy's Giorgia Villa was the first qualifier on balance beam during the qualifications of the 2019 European championships.

Villa opened her routine with a layout step out mount, rated an E in the 2022-2024 CoP.

She does a round off (B) to a full twisting back tuck (F), worth 0.2 connection bonus, and a full L turn (C) to a full turn with leg below horizontal (A), worth 0.1 connection bonus.

She also competes a double turn with leg below horizontal and a split leap (B) to a side aerial (D), worth 0.1 connection bonus.

She ends her routine with a double back pike (E).

Villa received a score of 13.766.

Unfortunately, the then 16 year old gymnast struggled on beam at the finals as she grabbed the beam with her hands after mounting it in order to save herself from falling. She then fell twice, on her full twist and her dismount. She finished in last place.

The gold medal went to Great Britain’s Alice Kinsella while the silver and the bronze went to French gymnasts Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos and Lorette Charpy respectively.

Villa was named to Italy's Tokyo Olympic team, but was forced to withdraw due to injury.
