Russian gymnast Artur Dalaloyan said that he did not experience any negativity towards him while competing in Italy.
“Everything went well, as I planned,” Dalaloyan, who competes for the Italian Gymnastic Romagna Team, told tass.ru. "It was very good for me as a Russian athlete. Everyone is very friendly, many people talk about Russia with love and awe, so I did not experience any negative, and in general the impressions of this tournament are the best."
Earlier this month, German gymnastics club TG Saar announced that they have cut ties with Dalaloyan's teammate and Tokyo Olympic champion Nikita Nagornyy over his Russia-Ukraine war stance.
Russian gymnasts have been banned from taking part in FIG [International Gymnastics Federation] competitions or FIG-sanctioned competitions from 7 March 2022 until further notice in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which took place on Feb 24th.
Beside winning an Olympic gold in Tokyo, Dalaloyan is the 2018 World all around and floor exercise champion, and five time European gold medalist.
