Former gymnast Andrea Orris is accusing high profile US coach Valerie Liukin of abuse.

According to ocregister, Liukin caused Orris to develop an eating disorder which at one point would require hospitalization with heart damage and doctor-ordered bed rest, and led to body dysmorphic disorder that continues to impact her more than 20 years later.

When Orris struggled on the uneven bars, Valerie would blame her weight.

“Valeri said, ‘You know why you’re falling? You’ve gained three or five more pounds on your butt,’” Orris said.

He would then go on and tell her that it was ok as there are ways to "work with that and change that".

She also alleges that the 55 year old coach told her that it was not a bad thing to go to bed hungry.

He even advised her to go to competition without eating dinner for three nights before competition.

Then promising elite gymnasts Vanessa Alter and Katelyn Ohashi have previously spoken out about developing eating disorders while training under Liukin.

Liukin is currently under investigation by the U.S. Center for SafeSport for multiple allegations of verbal and psychological abuse of young gymnasts.

Russian-American retired artistic gymnast turned gymnastics coach is the father US gymnast Nastia Liukin, whom he coached to an Olympic all around gold.
