Russian gymnast Ivan Kuliak showed his support for his country's invasion of Ukraine while competing at the 2022 Doha World Cup by wearing the letter Z, which is believed to be a symbol of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The 20 year old gymnast wore the symbol while performing on the parallel bars at the event final at the Doha cup, where he won a bronze medal.
He also wore it on the podium which he shared with Ukrainian gymnast and gold medalist Illia Kovtun.
It is said that Kuliak has previously received military training.
It's very clearly taped on over the ROC symbol. Not a good look at all.

The picture on the right was taken in Balashikha on 24.11.21, which shows him at a military base. It seems he's undergone military training with the Russian Army very recently. https://t.co/XgGlj5QVCB pic.twitter.com/pThNmpXo1S
Kuliak is not the only Russian gymnast to openly display his support to the Russian military in its invasion of Ukraine.
Olympic and World champion Svetlana Khorkina uploaded several posts on Instagram in support of the Russian government and military.
Kuliak's teammate and 2016 Olympic silver medalist Ivan Stretovich posted the symbol on his Instagram Story.
Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials, including judges, have been banned from taking part in FIG competitions or FIG-sanctioned competitions from 7 March 2022 until further notice in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
