Kostiuk was part of the junior Ukrainian team that won silver at the 2019 World championships. In 2020, he won four medals at the 2020 junior European championships.
As a senior, he finished in seventh place at the all around competition of the 2021 European championships.
On February 24, Russia launched a full-scale military assault on Ukraine as part of the Russo-Ukrainian War that began in 2014.
