Ukrainian National Rhythmic gymnastics photographer Maria Muzychenko shared the news of the killing of an 11 year old rhythmic, named Kateryna Dyachenko, in the Russian bombing of Mariupol.

The gymnast's house collapsed after a direct hit by Russian artillery.

"This is some kind of nightmare, hellish hell. All children are not to blame but they are dying! They are dying from rockets, shells, bombs, with which our uninvited Russia liberates our Ukraine! Shame on all who support this war!" Muzychenko wrote on her Instagram stories.

The city of Mariupol has been under near-constant bombardment since the first day of Russia's full scale military invasion of Ukraine.

Electricity, water, food supplies, and heating has been cut off due to constant shelling by the Russian occupiers.

"This gymnast Katya on the photo had a lot of dreams and I am sure had a great life in front of her," Ukrainian gymnastics judge Lidia Vynogradna wrote in a lengthy Instagram post.

"But she will never ever be able to perform again. She died. She died just because she was on the way of Russian army that wants to burn to ashes this heroic city of Mariupol. Her coach from the photo survived and I can't imagine her feelings right now."

"I have just no courage to ask the coach if whole family died or just the girl... And what's more, she would not be getting even a small coffin or a grave. Nobody would be able to come to the cemetry to see her. I have just a picture in my head of a young girl being buried in a plastic bag in a courtyard. This is the only way people can be buried now there. Can you imagine happening this in 21st century?"

"Since day 1 my biggest intention was to save as many children as possible from this horror. I was proud of myself that I managed to help so many. But now i am crying that i couldn't help this little girl. I feel that I failed."

"When did we fail as a world to allow this happening? I mean, in Russia there are either orcs or zombies, they are not human, but us, normal people? Politicians? How could we just make it all possible? How could we lead this world to have Katya die just because she was born in non-Nato country with a wrong crazy neighbor? What was her fault? There are people just buried alive, hundreds if not thousands that can't get out of underground shelters..."

"I  just want Russian athletes to see this photo and understand that this is the reality that is happening. They can't compete and Katya can't live!"

"In zombieland it's all Ukrainians bombing Ukrainians. But just to remind you that this photo was taken in Lviv. A Russian speaking gymnast from Donbass was participating in Western Ukraine in the city of Lviv with no fears of being bombed by some nazis and fascists. She had a life. And now she is gone."

"I just want Russian athletes to see this photo and understand that this is the reality that is happening. They can't compete and Katya can't live!"

Katya's father died as well in the Russian bomb attack on her home as per Vynogradna’s updated post. Her mother and her brother survived, with the latter being severely injured.

Both will continue staying in the city as they cannot evacuate.
