Hitomi Hatakeda, who qualified to the all-around final in fourth place at the 2021 World championships, has withdrawn from the competition due to an injury.

According to GymCastic, the Japanese gymnast suffered an accident during uneven bars training today and was spine boarded. 

It was later announced that Hatakeda suffers from central spinal cord injury and cervical bruise and that she has withdrawn from the final.

The 21-year-old gymnast will be replaced by the first reserve Csenge Maria Bácskay of Hungary in the all-around final.

Hatakeda was part of the Japanese team at the 2018 and 2019 World Championships and Tokyo Olympic Games.
