Rebeca Andrade, who is the reigning Olympic vault champion, won the gold medal today at the women's vault final at the 2021 World Championships, which are currently being held in Kitakyushu, Japan.

This is the first World title for a female Brazilian gymnast in almost two decades.

Daiane dos Santos was the first Brazilian gymnast ever to win a world title which was gold on floor exercise in 2003.

It was the first World medal of any color for a female Brazilian gymnast since Jade Barbosa in 2010, which was bronze on vault.

By winning the silver medal, Asia D'amato became the first female Italian gymnast to win a World medal since Vanessa Ferrari in 2013, who won silver on floor exercise.

RGF Angelina Melnikova, who won the all-around competition at the championship, clinched the bronze medal.

In fourth place came Egyptian Nancy Taman, who is the first gymnast from Africa to make a World final.

Ofrir Netzer, who is the first female Israeli gymnast to qualify for a World final, finished in sixth place.

Csenge Maria Bacskay of Hungary and Natalia Escalera of Mexico finished in fifth and seventh place respectively.

Elisabeth Geurts of Netherlands came in last place after suffering a fall on her second vault.
