On the balance beam, we have a back tuck and a layout with a full twist. The back tuck with a full twist is rated an F, performed by US Shawn Johnson and Jordan Wieber, and Romania's Larisa Iordache and Andreea Raducan. While the back layout with a full twist is rated a G, performed by China's Kui Yuanyuan and Soviet Olesya Dudnik.
The highest rating for an acrobatic element on the apparatus is a G.
A layout step-out with a full-twist is not in the code of points. Without the full twist, the element is rated a C. The back tuck and back layout are rated the same as well without the full twist.
The element was performed by US gymnast Betsy Hamm, a former member of the USA Gymnastics Senior National Team. She is the older sister of Paul Hamm, who is the first and only US male gymnast to win the all-around title at both the Olympics and the World Championships.
The routine took place in 1997.
Nowadays, gymnasts have to successfully perform their original elements at a World Championships, an Olympics, or a FIG World Cup in order to have them added to the CoP as well as named after them.
