The 18-year-old gymnast nearly fell off the apparatus after performing a switch ring leap but was able to regain her balance and finish off the routine.
She scored a 13.533 and is currently in fourth place behind Luo Rui of China, Pauline Schaefer-Betz of Germany, and Leanne Wong of USA . Tomorrow will be the second and last day of women's qualifications at the championships.
Urara represent her country at the Tokyo Olympic Games last summer. She was originally the first reserve for the balance beam final but was able to compete when Romania's Larisa Iordache withdrew due to injury. She finished sixth.
This is her first World championship.
