Japanese gymnasts dominated the final day of the 2021 World gymnastics championships.

Mai Murakami won her second World gold medal today on floor exercise knocking RGF Angelina Melnikova out of the gold medal position.

Murakami initially came in second place behind Melnikova but later filed an inquiry on her score which got accepted and moved her to first place.

Melnikova also submitted an inquiry but was rejected.

Murakami's first world gold medal was on floor exercise in 2017. Earlier today, she won a bronze medal on the balance beam.

The bronze medal went to US Leanne Wong. Melnikova's teammate, Vladislava Urazova finished in fourth place.

US Kayla di Cello and Romania's Maria Ceplinschi came in fifth and sixth place respectively. While Ukraine's Anastasiia Bachynska placed seventh.

Japan's Yuna Hiraiwa, who fell on one of her tumbling passes, finished last.

Murakami earlier announced that she plans to retire after the World championships.
