US Jordan Chiles' Mother Has Her Prison Start Delayed In Order To Watch Her Daughter At The Olympics

The U.S. District Court in Oregon has approved Gina Chiles' request to have the start date of her prison sentence delayed for 30 days in order to watch her daughter Jordan competing at the upcoming Olympic Games.

Chiles' lawyers managed to convince the federal judge to delay the start of her one year prison sentence for 30 days “to support her daughter throughout the Olympics” and “give Mrs. Chiles’ daughter at least some additional time to have her mother’s emotional support and guidance during such a monumental time her young life.”

Chiles was originally set to report to prison on the same day her daughter is expected to compete for an Olympic team gold medal.

The mother of the US gymnast was reportedly sentenced to a year in prison, with three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to one count of wire fraud for embezzling $1.2 million from her clients and business partner through Inspire Vision Property Management LLC, a commercial properties management business.

Gina will be watching Jordan from the comfort of her home as the team is barred from traveling with family or friends due to the ongoing pandemic.

Gina's biggest victim is not pleased with court's decision.

Karla Pearlstein, who helped Gina start her business, lost $945,000 to Gina and described her to KOIN as "somebody that has absolutely no shame. She is an operator. I mean, she was a total operator.'"

"Gina is very charming and she seems like, apparently to the court, she seemed like she was a low risk,'" she said.

"They were pushing back her imprisonment date because of her daughter’s Olympic work. I really think that what she got was a, basically, a slap on the wrist. "

"I think it’s absolutely ridiculous,' she added. 'The courts have given her break after break. This is not the first time that they have allowed her to travel or delayed for sentencing because Jordan’s Olympic trials or whatever, but it’s a real disservice to those of us who she victimized."

Gina Chiles has been ordered to repay the money she stole.

Chiles' parents are both listed as senior pastors at His Word Worship Center in Vancouver, Washington.
