US Sunisa Lee has continued her home nations dominance in the Olympic all around by securing the gold medal today.

Lee, who qualified in third place to the individual all around final, topped the competition scoring 57.433.

Lee is the sixth American gymnast to win an Olympic all around gold medal.

The last time a non US gymnast claimed the title was at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

By winning the silver medal, Rebeca Andrade became the first South American gymnast to win an Olympic all around medal.

The Brazilian gymnast scored 57.298.

The bronze medal went to Russian gymnast Angelina Melnikova, who scored 57.199. This is the first individual Olympic medal for the two time Olympian.

Melnikova's teammate Vladislava Urazova finished in fourth place.

Japan's Mai Murakami and Belgium's Nina Derwael placed fifth and sixth respectively.

US Jade Carey, who replaced Simone Biles, finished in eighth place.

Biles, who was the heavy favorite to win the title, withdrew from the competition in order to focus on her mental health.
