Belgium's Nina Derwael won't be returning to seek her third consecutive World title on the uneven bars.

The 21 year old gymnast plans to take a break after the upcoming summer Olympics.

"I need physical and mental rest," Derwael told La Dernière Heure. "It will not be a year break, but of a few months. I will not stop training completely, but I think it is important to take the time to be busy with other things."

Derawel is the first Belgian gymnast to become a world champion. She has two uneven bars elements named after.

The upcoming World championships will be held in Kitakyushu, Japan from October 18–24, 2021. It will be the first World championships to be held in the Olympic year since 1996.
