China's Fan Ye performed an extremely solid routine on balance beam at event final of the 2003 World championships.

She begins her routine with a switch leap (C) to a tuck jump with full turn (C), worth 0.1 connection bonus. She does a front tuck (D) to a sheep jump (C), worth 0.1 connection bonus and a switch ring leap (E). She then performs an acrobatic series which consists of forward aerial (D) to back tuck (C) to Flic-flac with high flight phase, and swing down to cross straddle sit (B), worth 0.1 series bonus. She as well performs a Yang Bo jump (D). She ends the routine with a cold stuck double back tuck (D).

While the gold medal was earned by Fan Ye, the silver medal went to Catalina Ponor of Romania and the bronze went to Ludmilla Ezhova of Russia.

Ye was part of the 2004 China Olympic team. There, she did not qualify to neither the all around nor the event final. She along with her teammates finished in disappointing seventh place in the team final. At 2005 World championships, she finished in fifth place on bars and eighth place on balance beam.

Fan retired in 2008 after competing at the national championships.
