Former Romanians gymnasts, Sandra Izbasa and Corina Ungureanu discussed the Romanian gymnasts' performance at Rio test event DigiSport.
Both gymnasts believe that it is not only the lack of depth in Romanian gyms that resulted in the failure to quality to Rio but also the routines of the gymnasts on the national team.
Sandra Izbasa 2012 and 2008 Olympic champion said that the gymnasts should continue training in order to reach the high level of gymnastics.
"For the senior level, some gymnasts have a lot of work to do"
Corina Ungureanu, two time world and European champion stated that difficulty was a real issue and the gymnasts have a tradition to defend.
"We had very low difficulty. I'm referring to the girls' D score. You can't score high with such difficulty. The girls had the responsibility of maintaining our legacy. Sandra also had a surgery on her tendon, I competed with a broken finger. We also have Catalina who underwent a surgery but went to compete regardless."
Regarding the Romanian chances of meddling in Rio, both former gymnasts assured that the Romanian flag will be raised during medal ceremony.
"Now we will encourage the only gymnast who will go there to represent us. We wish so much that she qualifies to every final and if only one gymnast will represent us then she must be the one to can win us medals" said Izbasa.
Ungureanu expects the gymnast to bring home to medals.
