In 2002, Romania's Oana Petrovschi won a silver medal on uneven bars at World championships behind Courtney Kupets of USA and ahead of Russia's Ludmilla Ezhova.

She had her legs glued together throughout the whole routine. She competed a layout Gienger release (D) and a stuck double twisting double back (F). Her routine is considered an easy one compared to gymnastics today.

Petrovschi who scored a 9.525 for this routine, was the last Romanian gymnast to win a medal on uneven bars at World championships up until Ana Porgras won a bronze in 2009.

Oana retired before the 2004 Olympics because of a serious back injury. The following year she filed a lawsuit against her coaches Mariana Bitang and Octavian Bellu accusing them of verbal abuse.

She left Romania and married a US citizen. She now resides in Canada.
