It is really happening, both Izbasa and Ponor are back in the gym for Rio.

"I had a discussion with the coaches, with Mr. Stoica and I said I wanted to try to see how much I can recover my routines that I had in London." Izbasa told prosport.ro in an interview linked by TheCouchGymnastNewsPage

"I am aware that it will be difficult and I will have to work ten times harder than the girls on the team, but I am motivated and  I am willing to try to do this because I do not want to have any regrets later that I could have helped the team and I didn't try to."

"I do not want to take anybody's place on the team, I do not want to prove anything because I have nothing to prove, I want to get in the gym and enjoy gymnastics."

Izbasa revealed that her comeback is motivated by her compatriot Catalina Ponor who has just came back from her retirement and resumed training for Rio.

"I all began with Catalina, she made me saw the good part of returning to gymnastics, and it would be much easier for me to know that she is also there and we are training together." said Izbasa.

If both gymnasts made the Rio Olympic team, they will be the first Romanian gymnasts to compete at three Olympic games.
