Italian coach Mauro Di Rienzo's miraculous catches not only impressed the gymnastics community but the whole world.

During the International Gymnix competition in Canada, his junior gymnast Sara Berardinelli struggled on her Tkatchev bar release as she had a low height and lacked power to get it around, causing her to hit the high bar with her bottom and flip backwards. Luckily, she had Mauro who caught her just a few inches from hitting her head on the mat.

Sara then went to put chalk on her hands and returned back for another try, and again hit the bar with her bottom and flipped, but this time her coach was more prepared and had a better catch.

Sara did not resume her routine, she saluted the judges and left the bars' podium.

This type of fall could have caused her a lifetime serious injury if it weren't for Mauro.

His phenomenal catching earned him a world wide admiration. He received applause from the audience and it was featured on high profile networks like USA todayESPN and La Gazzetta Dello Sport, as well as on social media.

It is said that Di Rienzo received a prize for his catches from the competition. It was as well dubbed as the 'Catch of The Year'.
