The megastar injured himself on vault during qualification at the World championships which is currently being held in Montreal. The injury ended his quest for seventh consecutive World all around title.
He is expected to recover in about to two to three weeks.
US Simone Biles, who was undefeated in the all around during the last quad, tweeted Uchimura upon hearing about his injury.
"Sad to hear about your injury King," she wrote. "But we can watch Worlds together if you want!!!!?? Heal up soon."
Biles took a break after her success at the Rio Olympic Games, where she won four gold medals and a bronze. She recently announced that she will resume full time training next month.
