Since day one of their arrival in Montreal, gymnasts have been falling victim to injuries.

Through complaints, it has been revealed that gymnasts were only allowed few minutes per apparatus to train during podium training.

Enrico Casella, the head coach of the Italian team, said that the gymnasts had only three minutes to train on each apparatus which was very stressful. He added that they did not have enough time to get used to the apparatus which he believed the reason for the many errors in the performances.

Guinness record breaker and Uzbakistan's Oksana Chusovitina also spoke against the procedure.

"Here in Montreal, when I was given 5 minutes on the podium to try my vaults" said Oksana. "You know, in five minutes I need to run to and fro in order to try the vault. it’s because of this that people get injured."

"It’s always been half an hour or 25 minutes for the podium training, six people vaulting together."

"Here they gave 9 minutes to Japan, 9 minutes to Korea, and to me, since I was alone, the gave five. No one’s happy with the new rules."

In the men's qualification, seven men were injured. Romania's Larisa Iordache badly injured herself on floor exercise during warm up.
