In case you were living under a rock, retired US gymnast Mckayla Maroney made headlines over a super racy video she uploaded of herself on Instagram a few days ago.

Maroney appears wearing a thong and a racy red tank top while shaking her backside for the camera. She captioned the video "another world premiere". Many of her fans were shocked and thought that she was hacked but the former gymnast took to Twitter and Instagram to confirm that she was the one who uploaded the video.

"I didn't get hacked. unfollow if u need to. all love" tweeted Maroney.

She hit back at her critics who shamed her for posting such video tweeting "Hey, im just doing me. if u want me to be a role model so bad, get inspired by how i give 0 f**** and go do u"

She has also tweeted "Not everyone's gona like u, but if u stay true to yourself they might just respect you"

Maroney got severely slut-shammed over the video.

A fan posted " But why? What is the purpose of this? You know you have tons of little girl fans, did you ask for that? No but you still know that you have young fans. You're an athletic icon that young women strive to be. There's zero reason or need for you you just spin around in a thong for instagram views."

While another wrote "When did trashy behavior become acceptable?"

However, she was defended by some of her followers who said that she is no longer a child and should do whatever makes her happy.

The video gained her media attention. Several popular media outlets like Daily Mail Online, TMZ, Teen Vogue and New York Post wrote about it.

Some social media users accused the gymnast of getting butt implants.

Yesterday she posted two photos of herself wearing a blouson top, black underwear and tights.

In 2014, Maroney was one of the celebrities who fell victim to hackers when they stole nude photos from her Apple iCloud account. Her lawyer demanded the photos to be taken down citing that she took them when she was underage.

The Olympic and World champion, who announced her retirement in 2016, has previously opened up about her struggle with adrenal fatigue which caused her anxiety and depression.
