LSU’s senior gymnast Ashleigh
Gnat has posted a video on social media, in which she casually lands an Amanar vault. Gnat was one of only three gymnasts this NCAA season competing a double-twisting Yurchenko,
the others being Florida’s Alex McMurtry
and Utah’s MyKayla Skinner, but the
Amanar vault is on a league of its own for difficulty and danger, and no level 10
gymnast had ever been seen performing it – until today! What a way to end a formidable career!
Gnat is LSU’s most decorated
gymnast, with over forty individual victories and nine perfect 10.0s. She is the 2017 NCAA national champion on floor,
tied with Utah’s MyKayla Skinner, and
the 2017 winner of the prestigious AAI
Award.
Gnat posted her Amanar video, writing ‘NOW I can retire’. In this glorious way, Ashleigh Gnat bid
farewell to gymnastics, after a fantastic career. She will remembered as one of
LSU’s most successful gymnasts, as well as a very sensitive human being. LSU
and the gymnastics world will deeply miss her!
