Russia's Aliya Mustafina has won the gold medal on balance beam at 2016 European championships. French gymnast Marine Boyer took silver while Catalina Ponor of Romania settled for bronze.

This is the first time for Ponor to not win a gold medal on balance beam at European championships. She added a bronze on floor exercise to her medal collection

On uneven bars, Great Britain's Rebecca Downie beat World and European champion Daria Spiridonova and Olympic champion Aliya Mustafina on uneven bars. Her sister Ellie Downie won silver on vault and floor exercise.
