Russian national team coach Valentina Rodionenko announced via an interview with Tass.ru that London Olympic silver medalist Anastasia Grishina has called it quits.

"Grishin has ended her career, she did not make the national team this year" said Rodionenko. "She has lost her desire to train and promising young gymnasts have taken her place."

Rodionenko believes that the premature retirement of the 20 year old gymnast would not have happened, had she not left her long-term coach Sergei Zelikson in 2013.

The Rodionenkos and Anastasia Grishina haven't been on good terms since after the latter's performance at the Olympics. In 2013, Valentina Rodionenko complained to the media about Grishina's attitude claiming that she refuses to improve and upgrade her skills. She as well complained about her mother interference in the gymnast's training.

Grishina's last international competition was the 2013 European championships where she won a bronze medal in the all around and on balance beam. In the past two years, she has suffered from a series of injuries.

The news of her retirement came a few days after her wedding.

Rodionenko has also announced the retirement of Ekaterina Kramarenko who is most notably known for competing at 2008 Olympics and 2014 World championships.

She has also mentioned that fan favorite Tatiana Nabieva has retired. The Russian gymnast expressed her anger via VK towards what Rodionenko said and denied her retirement.

Nevertheless, she said she is focusing more on coaching than training these days.
