Despite having the enough difficulty and artistry for her to win a medal, Russia's Viktoria Komova had always received poor results on balance beam at major international competitions' event finals.

She made the event's final at every single major international competition except Baku games yet never made the podium.

Nevertheless, 2015 witnessed her best ever beam final at a big competition. Here is why:

At 2011 World championships, she qualified on the apparatus in first place but fell in the final and finished in last place

At 2012 European championships, she fell on her dismount and finished in 6th place

At 2012 London Olympics, she had two falls. The first being on her forward tuck while the second on her dismount. She ended up in last place.

While at 2015 World championships, she did not suffer from any falls and impressively fought hard not to fall on one of her difficult skills. She finished in fourth place.
