Sandra stated for ProSport that she is currently taking her training one step at a time in order to avoid injuries. She’s training 5 hours a day and she’s gradually recovering.
“Training is going very well, I’m working towards my goal which is to compete and to make the team. But I want to take everything step by step because the most important thing is to remain healthy, that’s the main goal to compete while healthy. I’m working on physical strength right now, I have to reach the level in which I can perform all my routines”.
Sandra is currently training in CSA Steaua gym, the same gym where she started gymnastics nearly 20 years ago.
“Right now I’m doing some elements on floor, vault and beam. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to prepare two vaults, for me it is important to prepare one in order to help our team. My recovery is one step at a time, and I will be content when I am able to perform a number of elements”
Furthermore ProSport reported that the officials from the Romanian Gymnastics Federation will enlist Sandra for the WADA antidoping system which means that she will be eligible to have an official competition comeback at the 2016 Berna European Championship.
“In order to compete in Rio and to be able to make the team for it, I have to compete at the Europeans on at least three events and to train the fourth apparatus. It’s a little bit harder because there will be the same problem that was in London, we will be a team of 5 gymnasts and Catalina will not perform on bars, which means that I have to do it. My mission then it will be a little bit harder, because basically I have to train on all apparatuses”.
