Marvin Sharp, a former coach of two US Olympic gymnastics silver medalists, was arrested on suspicion of child molestation and sexual misconduct with a minor.

NBC reported that the investigation of Sharp started with a complaint from a student, a female gymnast at Sharp’s Gymnastics Academy in the 8000 block of Georgetown Road in Indianapolis. …

Sharp was led out of his northwest side house in handcuffs Sunday night.  Earlier in the evening, IMPD, Indiana State Police and federal agents removed evidence from the 48-year-old’s northwest side home.

Detectives took computers and other electronic devices to a special mobile lab, searching for what sources describe as child pornography.  Authorities also raided his gym, removing other pieces of potential evidence.

Sharp coached Bridget Sloan and Samantha Peszek to an Olympic silver medal in team final competition in 2008. The following year, Sloan won the sport's most prestigious World medal, the all around gold.

Sloan retired from competition in 2012 before joining collegiate gymnastics while Samantha Pezscek began competing for UCLA in 2011.

Since moving on from elite gymnastics, the two gymnasts haven't trained under Sharp.

According to court documents, Sharp inappropriately has been sexually assaulting one of his gymnasts for two years. The assault began when his alleged victim was twelve years old.

The gymnast told police that he told her not to inform her parents about the inappropriate photos and touching which took place during physical therapy.

It is also mentioned that the assault took place in Sharp's gym and during an out-of-state competition trips.

Child pornography and thousand of sexually explicit photos of young boys and girls were found in his home and gym.

On Monday, he was charged with four felony counts of child molesting and three felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, the following day, it was reported that he is now facing more criminal charges; three counts of child molesting and four counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

USA Gymnastics released a statement on Monday regarding Sharp's arrest "USA Gymnastics promotes a safe environment for its athletes and takes seriously any allegations regarding misconduct."

One of Sharp's former gymnast's father said that he could have never expected to see his daughter's former coach being arrested and walked out in handcuffs on the morning TV news.

"Now, me and all the other parents just want to know what's the next step. This just shocked the gymnastics world. He's known worldwide."
