Last month, Russia's Viktoria Komova made her international debut at the first edition of European Games which was held in Baku after three years of injuries and illness. There, she competed on all four events and won gold with her team.

The competition did not turn out to be how Komova's wanted it to be as she did not qualify to any individual final, however she is satisfied with her return. She went there with little preparation, she made changes in her floor and bars routines and competed the same beam routine and vault as before.

Komova also added that she is glad that she reacted calmly after her failure to qualify to any individual final in Baku, considering that her old self would have been upset and thrown things across the room.

She considers herself at 50 percent of her potential. Her next competition is the Russian cup where the World team gets selected.

The Russian gymnast, who won two silver medals in London, is fiercely going for Rio Olympics adding that she has some unfinished business.  Komova revealed that her failure to win an Olympic gold medal tortured her for a whole year.

"I have spent the year after the Olympics torturing myself with thoughts of all the mistakes I made at the Olympics. Then just as I was getting over my Olympic failures, the health problems started, but now all is forgotten" Komova told rsport.ru in an interview translated by papaliukin

Komova is a World and European champion on uneven bars.
