Women/girls should always be celebrated for their achievements but unfortunately it is not always the case.

Malaysian gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Had wowed the crowd and judges with impressive performance at SEA games where she won medal in every single gymnastics event. Two of her medals were gold which she won on floor exercise and with her team.

But for religious extremists, what was more important for them than her achievements, was her gymnastics outfit which is against the Islamic teaching.

BeritaTV3 posted photo 'which has since been deleted' of the champion after the competition on Facebook which attracted negative comments.

The 21-year-old was slammed for her attire, Malaysian Facebook commenters wrote that they could see the shape of her genitalia in her leotard.

“Keep it up, national athlete. Wear la sexy some more,” - “If you’ve already shown completely like this, I have no desire to make you my wife.” -  “Just strip off your clothes lah… let everyone see.” - "If you don't want to wear a headscarf, at least wear tights to cover up your thighs. Because that's your private parts you have to cover and shouldn't be displayed to men."- “This is the joy of the temporal world...even though our afterlife will be full of pain from Allah swt, what is it compared to the medal hung around that neck if our spirit in the afterlife suffer one day later” wrote religious Malaysians Muslims on her photo

On the other hand, many came to her defense, a public personality and board member for Sisters in Islam, Marina Mahathir, wrote: "So ... those people who spend their time looking at athlete's private parts, what exactly have they done to bring glory to their country?"

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin of Malaysia tweeted: "In gymnastics Farah wowed the judges and brought home gold. In her deeds only the Almighty judges her. Not you. Leave our athletes alone."

“Congratulations Farah Ann Abdul Hadi! You’ve made the nation proud. Ignore the haters and keep up the good work!” -“You are a hero! You make us proud” other Facebook commenters wrote.

Farah tweeted "Empty cans make the most noise". She as well thanked her supporters for standing up for her.
