Vanessa Ferrari is the most successful and famous Italian artistic gymnast. She has won five World championship medals and seven European championship medals.

But Ferrari is not the only successful gymnast from Italy. Here are the other Italian gymnasts who have also made their country proud.






Francesca Benoli



Francesca Benolli was born on August 26, 1989. In her first senior year (2005), she became a European champion on vault. She also finished in 5th place in the all around and on floor exercise at the same championships.

Benolli suffered from injuries which caused her to miss the 2005 Worlds and most of 2006 season. She competed at 2007 World championships where she helped her team to finish in 4th place.

In 2008, she won a bronze medal on vault at European championships and competed at the Beijing Olympics.


Carlotta Ferlito



Carlotta Ferlito was born on February 15, 1995. As a junior, she competed at 2010 Youth Olympic games where she won a bronze in the all around and on vault, and a silver on balance beam.

In her first senior year (2011), she won a silver medal on balance beam at European championships. She was also a part of the bronze medal winning team at 2012 European championships.

She competed at 2012 London Olympic games. She finished in 21st position in the all around and contributed to her team's 7th place finish in team final.

In 2013, she placed in 4th place on balance beam and 5th place on floor exercise  at European championships and 11th in the all around and 5th on balance beam at World championships.


Elisabetta Preziosa



Elisabetta Preziosa was born on September 21, 1993. She is the 2011 European bronze medalist on balance beam.

Preziosa who turned senior in 2009, won gold in the all around and on floor exercise at the Mediterranean games and finished fifth on balance beam at the World championships of that year.

She was a part of the London Olympic team that finished in 7th place.


Carlotta Giovannini



Carlotta Giovannini was born on July 5, 1990. She contributed to Italy's first European team title in 2006.

In 2007, she became a European vault champion while she won a silver medal on the same event at the following year's European championship.

At 2008 Olympics, she became the first Italian gymnast to qualify to an individual final. She finished 6th on vault.


Maria Teresa Gargano



Maria Teresa Gargano was born on November 23, 1986. At 2004 European championships, she won a bronze medal on floor.

She was a member of the Italian Athens Olympic team .


Other

The Italian team won the silver medal at 1928 Olympic games.
The Italian team won the bronze medal at 1950 Worlds.
The Italian team won the bronze medal at 2002 European championships.
Marja Nutti won a silver medal on balance beam at 1950 Worlds.
Licia Macchini won a bronze medal on balance beam at 1950 Worlds.
