During China's Huang Huidan's performance on uneven bars at Antwerp qualification, Marta Karolyi U.S team coordinator made comments regarding Huidan's age which was accidentally recorded.

"She looks like Julia who is eleven years old" said Karolyi "They're not even cheating with one or two years. Now they're cheating with four". Karolyi then began judging the gymnast's performance by pointing out her leg separation and her pirouettes being late. "this age thing I don't know how_Huang Huidan and_and just look at these kids.I passed by and I said "cute baby" and the coach smiled to me." said Karolyi.

Karolyi later gave an interview to where she said clearly that she believed the Chinese sent underage gymnasts to Antewrp and that she wishes everyone would compete on a level playing field and feels that until they lift the age limit, some countries will continue to cheat in this way."We [the United States] respect the rules and we play by the rules."

Meanwhile, former American gymnast Nastia Liukin made a tweet after the worlds were over, saying that she got a picture from Aly Raisman which she thought was hilarious and added "She is 17 or not" hashtag, 17 years old is the age of the last female Chinese gymnast to compete in Antwerp (Shang Chunsong) . Also member of the 2012 Olympic U.S team gold medalist Jordyn Wieber replied to Liukin on twitter with "Got the same one" with hashtag "Not 17".

Its not clear if those tweets were directed to the Chinese age controversy or not.
