Maria third from the left
We are sad to report that Maria Kryuchkova who was a member of the 2004 Olympic bronze medal winning Russian team, has passed away.

Maria Kharenkova's mother Olga wrote on VK, the largest Russian social media network in Europe, "Maria Kryuchkova is no longer with us. Let's mourn and remember."    (Translated by theliukin twitter user)

Two time Olympic champion Elena Zamoloditchkova who was once Maria's teammate, responded to the devastating news with "There are no words"

We are yet to know the cause of the death.

Kryuchkova was born on July 7th in 1988. Her only major international competition was the Olympic games. There she scored 9.2 on vault and 7.975 on floor exercise, she did not compete in team final but was awarded the bronze medal with her team.

After the Olympics, Kryuchkova retired and moved to coaching.

Updates: Kryuchkova died of an embolism (blood clot) on March 8, a member of the Russian gymnastics community confirmed to IG.
