Former Romanian gymnast Maria Olaru became a mother for the very first time, this week.

Olaru who married her husband Bogdan Diaconu, a young politician from PRU, three weeks ago in a civil ceremony where only family and three close friends attended, gave birth to a healthy baby boy whom was given the name Mihai after his father.  Mihai is the Romanian name of Michael.

Diaconu wrote on Facebook "Thank you, Maria Olaru. Today at 9:34 you brought me the most beautiful gift in the world, Mihai, a healthy 10/10 boy just like you have always been in your life. We love you."

The couple will have their religious ceremony and wedding this summer in ther home country's capital, so that many famous gymnasts (Olympic, world and European medalist) can attend.

"We met in 2009, when we were attending an event in Bucharest. After that moment we kept in touch sporadically, in fact our contact was rare."

"At the beginning of 2013 our lives have intersected again, in Timisoara and so life brought us together for the rest of our lives." Olaru told cronicadefalticeni.

Olaru who was born in 1982, is the last Romanian gymnast to win a World all around title which was at the 1999 World championships. She was also the winner of the 2000 Olympic all around bronze medal before being promoted to the second place after teammate Andreea Raducan's controversy.
