Every gymnastics fan knows that Khorkina claimed every single gold medal on her signature event at major international competitions unless a fall has occurred. But this is not correct since the two time Olympic champion was beaten once at a World championship.

During the 1994 World championships, Svetlana Khorkina was beaten by Chinese Lou Li in the uneven bars final. This was Svetlana’s first World competition.

From 1995 to 2001, Khorkina has dominated the uneven bars final at the three top international competitions Olympic games, World championships and European championships. She also won gold on bars in every single European championship she competed in.

While the gold went to Lou Li and silver to Svetlana Khorkina,  the bronze was won by Dina Kochetkova, Svetlana’s teammate.

This was the only medal for Lou Li at a major international competition.
